\"Robbery\"Robbery is the taking of property belonging to someone else, from the other person\u2019s immediate presence, by means of force or fear, with the intent to deprive the other person of the property permanently or for a long time. A charge of robbery is a felony. Robbery can be either first degree or second degree. First degree robbery is a robbery committed in a house or inhabited dwelling, in the vicinity of an ATM machine, or against a driver or passenger of a bus, taxi, or trolley. All other robberies are robbery of the second degree.<\/p>\n

First degree robbery carries a longer prison sentence than second degree robbery. It\u2019s important to understand, though, that ANY robbery is a strike under the Three Strikes Law in California.<\/p>\n
